Friday finds ...chevrons...

Fall is in the air (although I swear Calgary seems to have gone straight to winter) which has me thinking about change. Right now, for me, this means trying to be a better blogger which means coming up with more content for this here space. I think I tend to get caught up in the idea that I need to write paragraph after paragraph (which terrifies me) when really, an image of something that inspires me would be just as good.

So, on that note, I am jumping on the Friday Finds bandwagon with the idea that at least I will have one consistent thing to post. The theme for this week is

Lonny Magazine (one of my favourite e-mags) recently revamped their website and one of the new features is their decorate pages. You can search for inspiration by room and there are some stunning photos included in the galleries.

I'm loving...

Lately I've been a little obsessed with crochet. I need a new hobby that I can learn at home and will still allow me to watch and play with M. and I'm thinking crocheting fits the bill. I'm not going to get too ambitious, maybe just a few granny squares to begin with, but all of the beautiful examples I've found on Flickr are making me drool.

Anthology : print is not dead

In this day and age when more magazines are folding than starting (farewell Paste) there is a bright spot on the horizon in the form of Anthology.



Anthology is a quarterly shelter and lifestyle magazine focused on decor, travel, design, entertaining and culture. I can't wait to see the first issue!

Canisters

As our possession date draws closer I am starting to think about how to accessorize the new kitchen.

Here is a picture of the cabinet colour, countertops and our beloved glass backsplash.



I already have a teal blue wire fruit bowl and I have always dreamed of finding a vintage set of teal canisters but I don't know if that will be too much blue. Here is a set I found on Etsy.

I'm loving...

These Hibiscus Stay On Coasters from Dimmalimm. I think these will make great Christmas gifts. (Yes, I'm already thinking about Christmas.)


The Serena drum chandelier from Oly. When we were picking out lighting for the new house I fell in love with this chandelier. I thought it would just the right amount of sparkle and romance to the dining nook. Too bad it was waaaaay outside my price range. Damn, good lighting is expensive! I also love this Round Old Silver iron pendant. It was more affordable at $500 but I couldn't find anyone that supplied it to the lighting store we were working with.


When we get into our new house I hope to do an art wall featuring all of the places A. and I have traveled and this DC Love print by Art Shark Designs would be the perfect addition.


I'm in the middle of reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and it has been transforming. I've been thinking more about what we feed our family and have been especially wary of conventionally grown produce. With this in mind, we purchased a half-share with Oxyoke Farms. I don't think I've eaten so many salads in my life but, it has been fantastic and I would gladly eat garden lettuce all year if I could!
